“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”

— Eleanor Roosevelt

It all begins with a quote.

Utmost Outdoors was built around a passion for getting out into nature as often as possible and seizing every opportunity to prospect and mine for gold that you can.

As a small YouTube channel slowly took shape, I was able to rediscover a passion for camping and gold mining from behind the lens. I created this website to help share the mining gear I have created with those who want to take the next step on their path to finding gold.

I aim to pursue gold mining as my primary income source, with selling equipment as a way to help support that dream. Never the other way around.

Kyle is the founder of Utmost Outdoors.

I grew up in Calgary, Alberta and spend my early years canoe camping with my parents before taking up the sport of freestyle kayaking. I have always felt a connection to water, whether that be a small lively creek, a wide meandering river, or the vast Pacific Ocean.

I first learned that there was still gold to be found when I was in my final year of high school. As a young man looking to find a path to follow in life, the allure of digging my wages by the side of a beautiful river captured my attention immediately and I spend every spare moment reading everything I could find about gold mining.

My favorite website was goldgold.com written by a Navy Seal named Dave McCracken who had catalogued his many gold mining and gold dredging experiences in Northern California and around the world.

I was hooked, but life got in the way and it wasn’t until several years later I rediscovered gold mining right here in Alberta. I never would have guessed there was so much fine gold to be found so close to home and that my dreams of long road trips out to “gold country” could be had in my own backyard!

The answer was in finding the fine “cornflake” gold that was so hard to capture and this drew me into designing and building my own equipment.

My modern journey begins in 2020 when I outfitted a 1997 Seadoo GTX with a rack on the back and crammed 3 days worth of food, camping gear, and mining equipment onto the back. I was able to gain access to remote locations that I never could have accessed with my older, larger, and more cumbersome mining equipment.

Utmost Outdoors was born. Prioritizing fine gold recovery in the most compact and lightweight adventure prospecting gear I could dream up. By going where others could not, I was able to find more gold than I ever could have imagined was left over from the old timers!

It’s out there.

It’s hidden away from easy access.

It’s waiting for you to find it!
